Just finished Harry Potter…

July 17th, 2005

...and am dying to talk to someone about it without spoiling anything. I don’t want to say much, but 16-year-old Harry Potter is a lot easier to hang out with than the snotty, sullen 15-year-old version. Also, there’s lots of snogging in the book. I was a bit concerned about getting a copy yesterday, with all the hype about pre-ordering, reserved copies, and whatnot. No worries, though – there are plentiful copies in several stores. Everybody, get busy reading!

I’m visiting my parents this weekend in the incredibly hot Sacramento Valley. Really, seriously hot. When Dad says, “Oh, good, it’s cooling off a bit,” and the temperature is now a more bearable 102 degrees, you know it’s bad. When I drove up Friday night it was still 90 degrees outside – at 9:30 p.m. People talk about California heat being easier to tolerate because of the lack of humidity. It’s true, I’ve been on the East Coast in the summer, and that muggy weather is brutal. But when it’s 108 outside, it’s just not pleasant.

For a bit of knitting content, look to page 73 of the new Harry Potter. Says Dumbledore: “I do love knitting patterns.”

Get reading!
